From Acland Burghley School’s newsletter report on their trip to the First World War sites in Ypres, Belgium, 2019

Students and staff found this trip an enriching experience which brought to life their study of World War I. A student said, ‘I learnt about the hardships of the war, and how people coped. I also realised the respect with which people treat the war today. Every part of the trip was amazingly planned: from the preserved trench to the biscuit factory. I would love to do something like this again!’ Leon B, Year 9

Many thanks to The Philological Foundation, whose donation helped many students access this trip and benefit from the experience.
